Anna
Patalano lives and works in Bronxville, New York, a small
village just outside of NYC. She is a native of the Bronx and has lived in
Philadelphia; New Haven, CT; El Paso, TX; and Albuquerque, NM. Adding to the
mix of diverse influences, her parents are Italian immigrants.
Anna
has traveled abroad and extensively within the U.S., mostly for work and on one
occasion becoming an accidental participant in a international, religious
pilgrimage. As a result, while prone on a concrete slab, she was immersed in a
bath of holy water.
Coming
from a long and deep, formal art school training, Anna is a graduate of Yale
University School of Art and Tyler School of Art. To her family's conflicted
dismay and pride, she was the first female in her family to go to college and
subsequently earn a Master's degree from an Ivy League school. They still don't
understand how that happened even though she started painting and drawing on
her own from the age of 13 with no real training or fancy tutors. She had to do
something with the burgeoning portfolio of work she created as a young person.
Anna's
paintings have been shown in numerous galleries nationwide and is collected by
private collectors. Her work has also been awarded recognition by curators from
major museums in NYC.
