A river has no name

A river has no name.. the sound it knows of wind
And moonlight..
Its singing self..
Its long memory
Bereft of longing..
Full of human invasion
Human crossings
Animal crossings..

Rests in its essential movements..

Shaman know..

It is possible for a river
To sing inside a soul..

It is you..

Here

The child within us must awaken....
Little shadow.....
Your smile the darkness under a leaf....
Color of your lovely eyes.....
We bring our prayers to release you from hunger
And fear....
We take your soft breath within ours...
As the river weeps....
Your arm around your father…
Forever....

See them the forsaken fallen beyond our reach

Feel them as their nightmares pour into ours
Their salted bloodied tears...

Touch them as they stand in your hallways holding
out their melting hands full of burning eyes...

Hear them buried under the rubble of a bombed building
sharing a last breath with a buried child....

Know them as they wait in your walls....

Them
