Hymavathi, from Vijayawada, has done Bhasha Pravina, and is a
teacher by profession. A leading Telugu poet and writer, she has published 4
collections of poetry, and maintained a weekly literary column in Andhra Prabha
and Visalandhra dailies. Her works have appeared in many of the Indian
languages, and her poem ‘Santakalu Cheddam Randi’ (Let’s come together and
sign) has been rendered in all the Indian languages. She has participated in
many of the poetry meets organised by Sahitya Akademi. Her poetry collection
‘Nishiddhakshari’ (The forbidden syllable) was part of the syllabus for MA
(Telugu) of Yogi Vemana University for some time. She has received 9
prestigious awards from different literary associations.
