Some Legacies Denied

--- Minakshi Paul

Not all legacies celebrate the endlessness

Some urge for a final severance

A final redemption.

As the rain bears the legacy of the heat

As the morning sunshine bears the legacy of the dreary night

As the silent falling of the water drops in the kitchen sink bear the legacy of the clutter of the dishes to be soiled again and again……..

As the smiling face bears the legacy of the tears that the eyes have shed last night

The legacy of the calm chased by the restless

The legacy of the screams that the silent lane below the apartment bears

The legacy of the sleepless nights, the nightmares, the shaky rays of the yellow lights, the endless tick tock of the clock, the sticky moisturizer……….

Some legacies impregnate your body, leaving your soul desolate, deserted.
