Give Peace a Chance

Loud pitched and raucous
Over and over again
In the name of love.
They war with each other
Missiles and nukes
Devastation and gore
In the name of the Nation.
He opens fire
Killing one and all
Innocent civilians
In the name of faith.
And I ask you
Will you ever stop
And love me for myself
And give Peace a chance?
And I wonder
Will warring Nations ever realise
That these traumatising demolitions
Truly needs to give Peace a chance
And Will He, one day, understand
That beliefs may be different
But goodness will the same
And Peace will abide.
If only we had faith in Peace
Built love and trust
Invested in human goodness
Rewarded connectedness
Respected uniqueness
Celebrated togetherness
If only we gave Peace a chance.
