Giving Animals a Voice

A world without animals is unimaginable;

The oceans devoid of life are unthinkable!

The planet would be a very sad place

If merely inhabited by the human race!

Colourful Creatures both great and small;

Enrich the earth and we need them all.

Snow white Polar Bears are paying the price

Of the constantly shrinking Arctic ice;

The Panda, stunning in black and white,

Is as precious as the Eagle, majestic in flight.

The magnificent Tiger, orange and black,

A powerful hunter, always poised to attack.

The spotted Amur Leopard, a carnivore,

Is endangered, and soon will be no more.

Eastern Lowland Gorillas, with their high IQ,

Are capable of achieving man skills too.

Elephants have long memories, they also grieve;

Watching their pain is very hard to perceive.

The wondrous sight of a breaching Blue Whale

Intensifies no end with each slap of his tail.

Many species of birds are in danger too;

They add to nature’s palette in every hue.

The Kingfisher, Puffin, the Gull, the Curlew;

There are many more but I list just a few.

Every human should be totally ashamed

By the number of Rhinos killed and maimed.

Man’s behaviour is threatening our very existence

It has to change; we can no longer plead ignorance!
