Poetry Is Ubiquitous
--- Sagar Mal Gupta
There is poetry in every
fiber of beauty
that resides in a
beautiful girl.
There is poetry in every
fragrance of the flower
in every greenness of
the leaf
in every hardness of the
trunk
that forms the part of a
plant or a tree.
There is poetry in every
painful chirping of a bird
whose young ones were
destroyed
before their birth by
the landlord
when he threw the eggs
from the balcony.
There is poetry in the
vibration of every cry
that oozes from a hungry
child
sleeping in the home
like lap of her mother
on the pavement near the
palatial buildings of the rich.
There is poetry in every
forgetful
promises of the
politician
that he makes during
election time
to banish poverty and to
provide employment
to all without
discrimination .
There is poetry in every
nook and corner
of the village; of the
town
of the city ; of the
country
of the world, of the
galaxy.
Poetry is ubiquitous
like God
only a poet should have
the guts
to identify her ; to
embrace her
love her and make her
his/her own.
