Bequest
She gave me all the trees
Amaltas, Jarul, Pial
as I walked through wide green swathes,
the murmuring leaves
spoke of an unknown continent.
He gave me all the books
the new bold coloured ones
and old sepia-coloured pages too brittle to touch,
as I traversed through dusty racks
they muttered unknown alphabets.
I will give away
the earthen palette
with the seven colours of the rainbow
to my daughter.
