Under the Same Sun

I seek you.
When common roads were
Blurred in speed,
Dazed in heat
Thought you were a flat patch of darkness.
The traffic light is a faded yellow
The scooter’s eye is a bright yellow
Here drained faces
In bright shirts,
Fear over-exposure.
Behind tinted glass,
Muffled faces rest
In a dark space.
People gather against the wall,
Chill in shadows,
Take a piss and smoke a cigarette.
Floating nimbus,
Heavy with rain
Sail for the mountain.
Grey penumbra,
On a parched land
Delude a rural man.
A yearning like mine knotted in his throat
As he thawed, lying under a cloud.
