You are the Reason

I was overjoyed at the news
a thousand flowers would soon bloom.
I would soon have company that I could call mine
whose presence in my heart I would enshrine.
I would have a purpose in life;
to take care of you would be my lone drive.
I could take on the world for you
your wish would be my command- just give me a clue.
You will be my sole reason
for me to live in bliss all the seasons.

I forget the day’s hard strenuous labour
when at night I hold you in my arms.
Your eyes aglow in joy at my sight
I know you waited patiently for me to be by your side.
Precious son; night is young, it is not over as yet
I have lessons to learn, before I can rest.
I need to grow strong and capable
so that I can give you a life stable.
Poverty, hardships, should pass you by;
comfort, success; I pray, are your allies.
You will be my sole reason
for me to live in bliss all the seasons.

She was old and frail with age
with her strapping young lad, she was still on the same page.
Lovingly, he held his mother’s hand and led her ahead
an award for his work, he went ahead to fetch.
She gazed proudly at her life’s anchor
drenched in love for the wonder boy; pleased with the honour.
