Bashabi Fraser is a poet, children’s writer,
translator, critic and editor and her research and writing traverse
continents, bringing together the flavours of the East and West in a blend that
is distinctively her own. Bashabi has several poetry collections and been
widely anthologised. Her recent publications include The Homing
Bird (2017), Thali Katori: An Anthology of Scottish &
South Asian Poetry(2017), Letters to my Mother and
Other Mothers (2015), Ragas & Reels (poems
on migration and diaspora , 2012), She is the Founder and Chief Editor of the
academic and creative e-jouranl, Gitanjali and Beyond.
An award winning poet, her awards include
the 2015 Outstanding Woman of Scotland awarded by Saltire Society, the Word
Masala Foundation Award for Excellence in Poetry in 2017, Women Empowered: Arts
and Culture Award in 2010 and the AIO Prize for Literary Services in
Scotland in 2009. She has also received a special felicitation from the
Public Relations Society of India as a Poet, on International Women's Day in
March 2017.
Bashabi is a Royal Literary Fund Fellow
and a Professor of English and Creative Writing and co-founder and
Director of the Scottish Centre of Tagore Studies (ScoTs) at Edinburgh Napier
University.
