Mawar Marzuki
is a lecturer in English Language at one
of the leading Teacher Training College
in Penang, Malaysia and bilingual
writer, poet, critic, editor and translator. Her poetry book “Ajarkan Kami Berpuisi” or
“Teach us how to write a poetry” a compilation of both English and Malay
Language Poetry has been reviewed during poetry
festivals in Malaysia. A prominent figure in Malaysia’s literature
circle, Mawar Marzuki is also acting as the Vice President of Penang Artists Society,
Penang Poet Society and Penang Malay’s History and Culture Society, all three the
registered and established literary
forum in Malaysia. She has travelled
across the globe as a writer and poet for several literary festivals including Romania, Istanbul, Mongolia,
Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei. Her poems have been presented and translated
into several languages like Romanian and Mongolian. Being the translator for Malim Literature Village Foundation whereby she
acts as the International liason, her translation work has been published in the annual Pulara
Pangkor anthologies and the latest in poetry compilation in
conjunction with Malaysia-China Literary Bilateral Meeting. At the moment she
is working on her next English Poetry Book and translation of a novel by
Kamanda Sywor a prominent African writer.
