 Beyond borders

--- Ranu Uniyal

Today I stand before you

as a voice that hurts and bleeds.

Give me the balm and succour

that heals, not just my toes

but also, her shins.  All blue

she sits under a naked and a

hollow sky; the air howls

at her pain and suffering.

But you seem to have lost

the art of hearing.

Only words are wasted

in this desert.  The monsoon of doubt

has ruined the city.  The bricks

and mortar spring hopeless anarchy.

Just the two of us are holed up

in this town – bawling for peace.

Dead, devoid of wisdom.

Is there an echo around for company?
