Maker

--- Sutanuka Ghosh Roy

She builds the city

cementing the cracks of

tattered maps of memories

catastrophic weather

 a broken copper cauldron.

In the parapets

stacks half a sack of rice, few potatoes

a handful of green chillies

a bottle of mustard oil.

Clings to a rusty safety pin

shines like

waxed shoe-polish

while her city sleeps.
