 Stars in the Mystic Sky

--- Ganesh Puthur

I look at those twinkling stars

In turbulent times at night.

Those tiny spots up in darkness

Shining, dimming and

Sometimes even hidden by scattered clouds.

I hear them singing lullabies

Through my broken window

Hitting the cracks on my wall

Touching my canvas board

And healing the wounds of

A heartbroken lover in

An unfinished painting.

After years of their insipid solitude

Stars form different constellations

Lion, bear, scorpio and

Even a clock without its needles.

I even remember

Those days when I was a child,

My mother pointing at the stars

Telling that those were

My forefathers, smiling from heavenly abode.

I still look at stars with amazement

For all the beauty it fills in void,

Like a glittery cloth on a black hanger

Or like a magician vanishing

from the sight when the Sun rises.
