 The Birth of Light

--- Megha B

Zeal, ah, the arduous zeal,

Wound up in a bundle of delight.

The shine peers through empty walls,

Tiptoeing along ill-lit slums,

Caressing wings of a sulky bird,

Pouring itself into deadly swamps,

Turning with the plastic bits,

Toiling among early snow,

Salvaged by helpless hands

Unto dams of thuds and throws,

Up and down, hither and there.

Into pylons coiled above—

Shine and steer,

Seldom straight,

Light on, light oh, my dear.

Murderer Lights

--- Megha B

Pray, the glorious beams,

Crashing into the pilgrim’s eyes.

Light, the ravishing rage,

Ignited by the timeless sage.

Light, the unknown glory,

Prodigal son of Helios—unsaid story.

Emanate from mother darkness’ womb.

Light peers through the holy city,

Killing darkness with his nativity.

All praise and glory to

The butchers of darkness’s grace.

Lamenting Lights

--- Megha B

Pylon lamps lit on Gandhi Lane,

It’s 6 upon dusk, women in vain.

Crimes and crooks even in,

Empty streets keep narrowing.

Lurking eyes, dimming lights,

Calling out frightened sights.

Their nemesis are beacon lights—

Crickets burst in deadly fights.

Lo, behold, a lonely lad,

Why should you roam so glad?

Luring her like a magnet’s pull,

The lane is then brought to null.

Siren light, siren lights,

Where are the flickering lights?

Silence, oh silent night—

Churn and milk the devil’s right,

Disallow darkness and her delight.

Lit Late Light

--- Megha B

How wretched is the fate of light,

Murdering its mother, blank sight.

Light is incomplete

Without darkness’ decline—

An elegy to its mother,

Darkness’ delight.

Harshly we treat what the devil’s bosom holds.

Pity, we are saved by her sons,

Shine and bright.

Lit late light,

Uncover dunce and dirt.

Dismantle its mother’s right—

Devil deride, brightness enshrine.

In the well-lit cities and unlit slums,

In darkness, a search for lit wholesome.
