Light, my light, the world-filling light, the eye-kissing light, heart-sweetening light!

Ah, the light dances, my darling, at the centre of my life; the light strikes, my darling, the chords of my love; The sky opens, the wind runs wild, laughter passes over the earth.

(Rabindranath Tagore, Gitanjali, LVII)

Dear readers,

Light has ever been a source of energy, of visibility, of hope, of joy, of self-awakening and enlightenment. Literally and metaphorically natural light has been investigated and celebrated in myriad ways by scientists, poets and artists. The play of light and darkness, different angles of light as well as sources of light have been remarked upon in timeless pieces of art and their effect on man’s mind have found expression in poetry.

It is my pleasure and privilege to have been invited to be a guest Editor for Teesta Review, which has given me the opportunity to read submissions on the current theme by some very talented minds who have explored myriad possibilities with light which was the given theme. Their works see light as signalling the essence of the divine in nature,  memory as light, light that brings into relief daily narratives,  light as symphony, light that emerges from darkness and even something as simple as the light of fireflies. Hope the current issue of Teesta Review will be a source of hope, love and serenity to its readers.
