Chittaranjan Misra


Dr. Chittaranjan Misra is the Head Department of English in B.J.B. Autonomous College, Bhubaneswar. He is a bilingual writer and has published books including poetry, criticism and translation. His books include  Harold Pinter: The Dramatist.. He has translated four plays of Pinter  Albert Camus’s The Outsider into Odia,  authored six anthologies of poems in Odia and one in English. Dr. Misra has published his poems and papers in European ConnectionsNOCL(USA),Indian LiteratureKavya BharatiIndian Journal of English StudiesDibrugarh Journal of English Studies, Atlantic Literary ReviewRock PebblesIndian Age, Muse India, and other journals of Odisha .

He has been felicitated by several literary Institutions in Odisha like Prajantra Prachar Samiti,Cuttack in Bisuva Milan – 1976,Panchama Veda, Rourkela on 1st April, 1988,Sandhyatara Sahitya Sansad, Dhenkanal in May, 1993,Abhinandanika, Puri in Feb, 1997,Utkal Cultural Association, Puri, 1997,Srikhetrashree, Puri, 1998, Satta Sahitya Samman, Koraput on 14.4.2006,Sarata Sahitya Parisad, Cuttack on 6th May, 2007,Sudhanya  Samman, Bhubaneswar on 7th February,2015.

He visited University of Lyon, France as the only Indian  Guest speaker in the International Conference on Harold Pinter (21st March to 25th March, 2007) where he presented his paper and was interviewed.

In addition to his 32 research articles in English published in the country and abroad he has written more than 30 Papers in Odia and has published them in leading journals of Odisha including Jhankara, Esana, Konarka,Saptarshi and Paurusa. About 300 of his poems in Odia have been published in Odia magazines during last three decades. His English translation of poems from major  Odia poets like Gopabandhu Dash, Sachi Rautray, Guru Mohanty, Surya Mishra, Pritidhara Samal have been published in Indian Literature and The Mahanadi Review. He has translated sixteen Odia poems of contemporary Odia poets for the Translation volume of Poetry ‘Crossed Words’ published recently by Bhubaneswar Sahitya Samaj. He has co-edited ‘Voyage’, another anthology of contemporary Odia poems published by Bird Nest in 2017.Some of his poems have been translated into English by Padmashri Jayanta Mahapatra and Bibhu Padhi. He is a Life Member of Indian Society for Commonwealth Studies, Delhi and Utkal Sahitya Samaj, Sriramachandra Bhaban, Cuttack. He has supervised research works of scholars of Utkal University at the Doctoral level and has lectured in Refresher Courses as a Resource Person. He has participated in more than seventy seminars –both National and International.
