within us

stories of our creation
they rest in our
mouths
we carve weapons with
our tongues
our shields sit
beneath our ribs
within us we carry
the frustrations of
our ancestors
their dreams
interrupted
a spiritual genocide
within us is land
country breathes into
us
sovereignty over us
soil runs through the
veins
within us are our
identities
untouched by eugenics
framed by kin
we are whole
within us is legacy
there is no
traditional
we are born into a
continuation
within us, is each other
